Why is this product new and/or different from other similar products?
Hippo Safety Fence is a modern alternative to traditional wooden post and rail fencing. It is quick and easy to set up, whether it is for a permanent or temporary purpose. Using UV resistant material, this imperishable plastic strapping will work in temperatures from -50° to 100° celsius. The strapping comes in two colours (brown or grey) and looks just like a normal wooden fence.
Well priced it is also more cost effective as fewer materials are needed to set it up by comparison with a traditional wooden fence. Easy to handle and store it comes in 100 meter rolls with corresponding heavy holder brackets (25 per 100 meters of strapping – for a 4 meter span between posts) and ratchet/s (as many as needed to suit your needs). The number of ratchets will depend on whether you want a permanent or temporary fence.

How is it innovative? Does it represent a breakthrough in design or intended use?
Reduces injuries - Unlike a wooden fence the strapping does not have sharp edges, so will not cause injuries such as cuts, splinters or heavy bruising when you or your horse come into contact with it. Despite that fact that it is as strong as wooden fences it does absorb contact more easily, reducing injuries sustained in contact, without affecting the integrity of the fence itself. The smoothness of the strapping prevents horses from getting any rashes or abrasions through habitual rubbing, which some horses are prone to do. Breaking strength is +- 285kg. The strapping can break when a horse gallops into the fence. The strapping can be connected with 4 screws.
Quick installation – For example, by using staking posts at either end of the 100 meter strapping length you have immediately defined your line of sight along which you can place your intermediate stakes. No need to individually measure out each stake to match the length of rail being used.
Easy to handle and use – Manufactured in 100 meter lengths, the strapping is easy to handle and use. It is also easier to store and transport than traditional wooden fencing. The strapping can more easily be cut to length as required at the point of installation. No cumbersome sawing off lengths of plank to fit a specific situation.
Cost effective – The Hippo Safety Fence is more cost effective not only because of its price but because less materials are needed by comparison with a traditional wooden fence. The Hippo Safety Fence can be supported at 3, 4 or 5 meter lengths between posts.
Permanent and temporary - The strapping is strong and flexible, strong enough to give you all the benefits expected of a traditional wooden fence but flexible enough to be used time and again for different sized fenced areas.
Low maintenance – Because Hippo Safety Fence is made of durable UV resistant plastic it does not require regular maintenance. Hippo Safety Fence is able to survive in all weather conditions and unlike wooden fencing does not require maintenance due to heat or water damage.
You can put electricity – The heavy holder has double function: it holds the tape and it has little holes to put an electric wire.

The Hippo Safety Fence can be used right across the Equestrian and land owner market, viable for large or small land spaces. Virtually every land owner will be able to use the Hippo Safety Fence as an alternative to post and rail fencing, wire fencing and dressage arena posting. It is also used for horse walkers.
